New Burp Cloths

I am making my own burp cloths!! Since I've started making my baby blankets and burp cloths, I've purchased plain white cloth diapers and embellished them with fabric and rick rack. Recently I decided to make my own burp cloths using the fabrics that I love and pairing them with terrycloth. I can get terrycloth in other colors besides white, and I came up with a shape that I love. They are wider at the ends and thinner in the middle so that they are not so big over your shoulder. I think that they are wonderful!! Here are some some pictures of a set that I made for my nephew's baby that is due in September. I will be adding others to my shop soon, but let me know if you 'd like something if they're not up yet

I hope you like my creations!

The Paci Pouch

This is my newest item. I love it!! It is a little pouch to hold your child's pacifier - it's the paci pouch! I choose a pretty fabric for the outside, a coordinating fabric print for the inside and I put cotton quilt batting in between the fabric layers to keep it soft and pliable. I also made a little tab sewn in the side seam so that it can be attached to anything with a link-a-do or with this metal double jump ring.

I do have these available in my store now. Look for them in their sets - they come with a matching 3 snap tee and a burp cloth. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

By the way - the Vintage Cowboy Blanket set is no longer available...sorry:( It was purchased just after I posted it on my blog. I do, however, have other ones that are just as cute. If I can get my hands on some more of that fabric I will make another set and post it in my shop.

Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine Debut

In January, Lauren Brockman, managing editor of Pregnancy and Newborn magazine, contacted me and asked if I would be interested in sending her one of my handtowels to be "considered" for an article she was doing for the May issue. I figured the only thing I would loose would be the towel since it would not be returned. So I sent it to her and really forgot about it until I was at the bookstore yesterday and happened to see an issue on the shelf. I bought on, brought it home, and on page 24 there it was!! It was really thrilling to see something I had done on the page of a national magazine!!!! If you get a chance to see it let me know what you think. Here is a picture of the handtowel that is in the magazine (it does look much better in the magazine!!)

April 14, 2009

The baby shower was 2 weeks ago, and it was beautiful! Everyone loved all of the gifts that I made - wheh!! Everything turned out to be well worth it. So I've been working on my Etsy shop and coming up with some new products and new gift sets. I am getting ready to have a spring cleaning sale to make room for these new items. Details will be coming soon.

On a personal note...

My mother and sister Robin were down from Arkansas for a little visit and see my new place. After we picked them up at the Tampa airport we went to Frenchy's on Clearwater Beach for lunch. Great place and delicious food--right on the ocean! We had a great visit--lots of shopping and eatting--Time goes so fast--wish they could of stayed longer.

My son Rob and daughter-in-law Angie came up for the weekend to tell me they are expecting their first baby in October-the day after his birthday. Naturally I am thrilled. Can't wait to find out what it will be so I can crank up the sewing machine.

I made these cute little flip flop pouches for my grandchildren -Kasie, Haley and Emma who live in Georgia for Easter. Hope they like them--the Easter Bunny made them especially for them! My daughter Christy and son-in-law Gary and the 3 girls just moved from the "city" to their new place in the "country". I'm planning on going to Haley's graduation next month and am looking forward to seeing the new place.

I've been working on the blankets I told you about for the twins. After having a hard time finding the material, I put the blankets together and then realized that the pink dotted minkee had a flaw in it! I tried to whip stitch it, but it didn't look invisible. So I go back to JoAnn's, a place that I should be on first name basis by now, to get the same material. And what do you know - they didn't have it!! It wouldn't be such a big deal if I hadn't already made a matching initialed onesie. I found one other design that only had pink and brown, which I bought, and now have to start over. I guess it's for the better because I like the new fabric better! I also made burp cloths and appliqued initial onesies to match. Here are the pictures:

This week I also received my own fabric labels made by JennifersJewels. I think that they turned out beautiful and will be a great addition to my designs and help with name recognition. I was so excited that I gathered all my patterns, materials, and creativity, and created these cute little clutches. I love them....and they have my name on them!!! I think I may add these clutches to my store!

March 12, 2009

OK, I know it's been over a month since my last entry, and I apologize, but I am still getting the hang of this...so, please stay with me!!!

My granddaughter's 2nd birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I spent a lot of time making her baby doll clothes for her doll and a couple of outfits for her to match. They turned out so cute! Here are a couple of pictures -

One of my current projects is making baby blankets for twins - one boy and one girl - for a friend of the family. Specific colors were requested for each: blue and brown for the boy and pink and brown for the girl. You would think that the fabric would be easy to find, but ooohhh no! I went to JoAnns, I drove over an hour away to go to one of the largest quilt stores in the whole state of Florida, and a smaller quilt store about 45 minutes from me. Guess where I found the fabric - back at JoAnn's. I was so frustrated that I couldn't find matching fabrics but in the different colors, which I think are pretty popular colors. Although I didn't mind going to the quilt shops! I did manage to find lots of other stuff. I'll post pictures of the things I've made (when I get around to it!!) Anyways, I'll share the pictures of the blankets when I'm done. I think that they will turn out very cute!
