Christmas Is Coming

I have recently added some new items in my shop. If you get a chance, I would love for you to check them out. One item I would like to highlight is my Christmas Blanket, Burpbee, and Bodysuit Set. I loved the green and red circles fabric when I bought it at a quilt shop over the summer and knew that it would make something great for the holidays. The holidays aren't quite here yet, but it won't be long!! This Christmas set will be perfect for all those holiday parties and pictures. I wish I had a baby to put these on to show you how cute it would be, but my next grandbaby isn't due until October 24th. I'll have to make one for Baby McBee and then take pictures to show you maybe next month!!

Alexander's First Birthday Party

Yesterday my grandson, Alexander, had his first birthday party. I can't believe he is a year old! It seems like he came home from the hospital only a couple of months ago. He has grown so much. He just started taking his first steps on September 4th. His party turned out great. It was small, but we had great company and great food. I made him his birthday shirt and his birthday cake - Elmo. I think I could have done a better job with the icing dots, but everyone else loved it. For his birthday gift, I made him his own towel set. Can you believe that he didn't have his own yet??!! I also made him a personalized wall hanging. I think that it turned out really cute and it matches his room! Maybe I'll put those up for sale in my store??!!

Jungle Baby Blanket Set

My Jungle Baby Minkee Baby Blanket, Burpbee, and Bodysuit Set has been added to my store. I think it is really cute! The blanket has the most adorable baby jungle animals fabric - elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and ostriches - sewn together with the softest yellow dot minkee and jumbo brown rick rack around the edges. The burp cloth has the same jungle fabric with a yellow terry cloth to absorb all those spills. The matching bodysuit has an elephant applique on the front. I just love it. Let me know what you think!

My Ft. Lauderdale Vacation

Guess what??!! Both of my items that were listed in the treasuries I wrote about in my last blog have sold!!! I am so excited and proud of myself. Thank you so much to everyone who loves me!!!

So I finally went on vacation -- to Ft Lauderdale, FL. I think it feels strange going on "vacation" to Fort Lauderdale, considering I lived there for almost 30 years. It's been about 8 years since I moved away, but it was great being able to spend some time there again. I love the weather, the beaches, the restaurants.... My daughter, Tracy, and her family stayed at a beautiful resort called the Pelican Grand Beach Resort. They had a lazy river, a walk in pool, and it was on the beach. Amazing. They were there on a family vacation, but I stayed with my sister, Kelly and her husband Dale. We met up for Angi's (my daughter-in-law) baby shower. She and my son, Rob, are due at the end of October. I can hardly wait. Of course I went overboard on their gifts for the shower (even after we already got them their travel system), and among those gifts were some handmade ones (of course!). I made the cutest surfboard set, a jungle set, and one with really cute sea animals on it created by Wyland. Since I made chocolate favors for the shower, had to work and pack, I totally forgot to take pictures of all of these cute things I made. I can't believe it! I would have loved to show you. Hopefully I will remember to take some next time I get down there, which probably won't be until October.

Meanwhile, I am making some new items for my store. I have to freshen it up a bit since I seem to be so popular lately! Hopefully my good stroke will last! Also, keep in tune for some holiday items soon to come!!

Here are some pictures of my vacation. Enjoy!

Etsy Treasuries

I've been on Etsy for some time now, but I've never been in a treasury. Now over the last couple of weeks I made it into not one, but two, treasuries! Isn't that crazy??!! I am so excited - maybe I'll even make the front page. Here are the items, with their links, that made it into the treasuries. And don't forget to check out everyone else's stuff. They are all really cute!!

Oh My Darlin'

I made the most darling outfit for my granddaughter, Allie. She is now 2 1/2 - I can't believe how big she is now. She looks so beautiful in this outfit that I had to share it with you!! I loved the yoyo flower on the top so much that I added one on to the headband that I made to go with the outfit. Maybe I should make a matching outfit for her doll too??!!

Hope you like it!

Beach Towels

My new beach towels are now available!! I think that they are the cutest things ever! The ones I've made so far are for my grandchildren. The towels I use are actually bath sheets, which are much bigger than regular bath towels. They are super soft and comfy, and perfect for babies, children, teenagers and adults to use by the pool, the beach or even a lake. The designs I have made so far are flip flops and sea life, but there are endless possibilities!! If there is something different you would like, convo me on etsy or email me and we can create a one of a kind, unique towel for you. Wouldn't you love to have the BEST towel at your next pool party??!!

BurpBee and Onesie Sets Now Available

I've finally had a chance to add my new BurpBees to my Etsy Shop. I'm sorry it took so long, but I think you'll love them as much as I do!! My burp cloths are made with beautiful fabric, matching terrycloth, and trimmed with rick rack. I love the shape because they are really long - which makes it easy to catch all the "spills" - and they are thinner in the middle - which is perfect for fitting over your shoulder. These BurpBees have a coordinating onesie with an applique on the front in the same fabric. They are a perfect set for your own baby or a wonderfully unique shower gift. I only have a couple available in my shop right now, but I am in the process of adding more. Soon I will be adding sets of 3 burp cloths and also beach towels! I am so excited because they are sooo cute!!!

Visit with Christy's Family

My daughter Tracy's family and I drove to Northern Georgia 2 weeks ago for my granddaughter Haley's 5th grade graduation. We left REALLY early so that my 3 grandchildren - Aden, Allie and Alex - coming with us would sleep. That worked for about the first 4 hours! The rest of the drive really wasn't as bad as I expected it - thank goodness for DVD players!!! My daughter Christy's family moved to a beautiful country home in the very beginning of the Smoky Mountains. Us Floridians weren't used to driving around on curvy mountain roads! It was fun and absolutely beautiful. Haley's graduation was very nice. I think she was glad to get out of elementary school and join her sister Kasie in middle school. We also had birthday party for Christy's youngest step child, Emma, who turned 8. We had a huge bonfire and a hayride. It was great!! The rest of our trip was wonderful. I don't get to spend a lot of time with all of my family together, although my son, Rob and his wife Angi, weren't with us. They were too busy on vacation in Hawaii!! Maybe next time we'll ALL be together.

New Burp Cloths

I am making my own burp cloths!! Since I've started making my baby blankets and burp cloths, I've purchased plain white cloth diapers and embellished them with fabric and rick rack. Recently I decided to make my own burp cloths using the fabrics that I love and pairing them with terrycloth. I can get terrycloth in other colors besides white, and I came up with a shape that I love. They are wider at the ends and thinner in the middle so that they are not so big over your shoulder. I think that they are wonderful!! Here are some some pictures of a set that I made for my nephew's baby that is due in September. I will be adding others to my shop soon, but let me know if you 'd like something if they're not up yet

I hope you like my creations!

The Paci Pouch

This is my newest item. I love it!! It is a little pouch to hold your child's pacifier - it's the paci pouch! I choose a pretty fabric for the outside, a coordinating fabric print for the inside and I put cotton quilt batting in between the fabric layers to keep it soft and pliable. I also made a little tab sewn in the side seam so that it can be attached to anything with a link-a-do or with this metal double jump ring.

I do have these available in my store now. Look for them in their sets - they come with a matching 3 snap tee and a burp cloth. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

By the way - the Vintage Cowboy Blanket set is no longer available...sorry:( It was purchased just after I posted it on my blog. I do, however, have other ones that are just as cute. If I can get my hands on some more of that fabric I will make another set and post it in my shop.

Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine Debut

In January, Lauren Brockman, managing editor of Pregnancy and Newborn magazine, contacted me and asked if I would be interested in sending her one of my handtowels to be "considered" for an article she was doing for the May issue. I figured the only thing I would loose would be the towel since it would not be returned. So I sent it to her and really forgot about it until I was at the bookstore yesterday and happened to see an issue on the shelf. I bought on, brought it home, and on page 24 there it was!! It was really thrilling to see something I had done on the page of a national magazine!!!! If you get a chance to see it let me know what you think. Here is a picture of the handtowel that is in the magazine (it does look much better in the magazine!!)

April 14, 2009

The baby shower was 2 weeks ago, and it was beautiful! Everyone loved all of the gifts that I made - wheh!! Everything turned out to be well worth it. So I've been working on my Etsy shop and coming up with some new products and new gift sets. I am getting ready to have a spring cleaning sale to make room for these new items. Details will be coming soon.

On a personal note...

My mother and sister Robin were down from Arkansas for a little visit and see my new place. After we picked them up at the Tampa airport we went to Frenchy's on Clearwater Beach for lunch. Great place and delicious food--right on the ocean! We had a great visit--lots of shopping and eatting--Time goes so fast--wish they could of stayed longer.

My son Rob and daughter-in-law Angie came up for the weekend to tell me they are expecting their first baby in October-the day after his birthday. Naturally I am thrilled. Can't wait to find out what it will be so I can crank up the sewing machine.

I made these cute little flip flop pouches for my grandchildren -Kasie, Haley and Emma who live in Georgia for Easter. Hope they like them--the Easter Bunny made them especially for them! My daughter Christy and son-in-law Gary and the 3 girls just moved from the "city" to their new place in the "country". I'm planning on going to Haley's graduation next month and am looking forward to seeing the new place.

Have a Beeutiful day!

March 19, 2009

I've been working on the blankets I told you about for the twins. After having a hard time finding the material, I put the blankets together and then realized that the pink dotted minkee had a flaw in it! I tried to whip stitch it, but it didn't look invisible. So I go back to JoAnn's, a place that I should be on first name basis by now, to get the same material. And what do you know - they didn't have it!! It wouldn't be such a big deal if I hadn't already made a matching initialed onesie. I found one other design that only had pink and brown, which I bought, and now have to start over. I guess it's for the better because I like the new fabric better! I also made burp cloths and appliqued initial onesies to match. Here are the pictures:

This week I also received my own fabric labels made by JennifersJewels. I think that they turned out beautiful and will be a great addition to my designs and help with name recognition. I was so excited that I gathered all my patterns, materials, and creativity, and created these cute little clutches. I love them....and they have my name on them!!! I think I may add these clutches to my store!

March 12, 2009

OK, I know it's been over a month since my last entry, and I apologize, but I am still getting the hang of this...so, please stay with me!!!

My granddaughter's 2nd birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I spent a lot of time making her baby doll clothes for her doll and a couple of outfits for her to match. They turned out so cute! Here are a couple of pictures -

One of my current projects is making baby blankets for twins - one boy and one girl - for a friend of the family. Specific colors were requested for each: blue and brown for the boy and pink and brown for the girl. You would think that the fabric would be easy to find, but ooohhh no! I went to JoAnns, I drove over an hour away to go to one of the largest quilt stores in the whole state of Florida, and a smaller quilt store about 45 minutes from me. Guess where I found the fabric - back at JoAnn's. I was so frustrated that I couldn't find matching fabrics but in the different colors, which I think are pretty popular colors. Although I didn't mind going to the quilt shops! I did manage to find lots of other stuff. I'll post pictures of the things I've made (when I get around to it!!) Anyways, I'll share the pictures of the blankets when I'm done. I think that they will turn out very cute!

My First Blog

Hello everyone! This is my very first blog. I have to say that I am a little aprehensive about all of this blogging, but I know people love it so I thought I would give it a shot.
I have always been very crafty. I would much rather craft than go to work! I have always given away everything that I've made over the years, but now I thought of selling them so I don't have to work. I have been working on a line of baby blankets with matching burp cloths and towels that are appliqued with monograms or a design. They all are made with beautifully coordinated fabrics. I have a store on etsy - http://www.suzybeessurprises.etsy.com/. I would love for you to visit my hive! Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas to help me keep my place in the sun!!!
